Last night, as a surprise, I organised a girly get-together for my best friend’s birthday.
She loves this place. More so, because she has the most insane sweet tooth and the guys at The Stables are cheesecake geniuses.
Seriously, check out their Instagram.
She had no idea where we were going or that six more of her favourites were waiting. Anyway, thanks to the incredible hospitality and amazing food from The Stables, it was a cracking night.
The team could not do enough for you. When my prosecco glass was getting low, they were there to top it up. Honestly, amazing customer service.
But that didn’t even come close to the food.
I was at a cross roads for the main course. An amazing sounding Salmon dish with potato rosti and spicy tomato dressing or the Teesside classic, the parmo.
I’m a sucker for a parmo. It’s a truly glorious invention. So after much deliberating, that’s what I chose.
Most people succumbed to the parmo and it was enjoyed all round.
At the end of the meal, I’d ordered a personalised full cheesecake for Lon, the birthday bae. She was mortified that everyone came and sang in the full restaurant, just as I planned. Her favourite are Guylian chocolates, so that’s just what I asked for. I mean, look at that…
The bill arrived at around £180 for seven people, two courses each and a couple of bottles of prosecco. Not bad. And well worth it.
The cheesecake was £30 and not included in the final bill and you get a good twelve slices.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in County Durham and Teesside. It’s welcoming, cosy and knocks up some proper scrumptious food.
Let me know if you give it a bash. You can tweet me @ProperScrummy.
