NEW Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin – Cocktail Recipes

Sour Cherry Gin? Sounds good doesn’t it?

Well lucky for you lot, Luxardo, the oldest family-owned liqueurs company in Italy, have recently partnered up with the team at The Botanist, Newcastle to launch their brand new gin made from Marasca cherries. A variety of sour cherry that is exclusively cultivated by the Luxardo organisation.

The lovely bunch also, very kindly, sent me some samples to try as I couldn’t make it the opening of the new Luxardo Cherry Garden Gin Bar, housed at The Botanist until the 5th October.

So, you can either make your own Luxardo cocktails in the comfort of your own home, or take yourself along to The Botanist for a well deserved tipple or two. It’s a limited edition bar, so you may as well…

Cherry, Blossom & Tonic

  • 60ml of Luzardo Sour Cherry Gin
  • 200ml of tonic water
  • Lemon zest or a slice of lemon
  • Build in a tall glass with plenty of ice

Italian 75

  • 25ml of Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin
  • 15ml of Luxardo Cherry Syrup (from the jar of maraschino cherries!)
  • 15ml lemon juice
  • Shake with ice and strain into a champagne flute
  • Top with prosecco
  • Garnish with a maraschino cherry

Limoncello Spritz

  • 50ml of Luxardo Limoncello
  • 15ml of lemon juice
  • Splash of tonic water
  • Top with prosecco

If you like gin and fizz, you’ll love the Italian 75 cocktail using the new Sour Cherry Gin from Luxardo.

You’ll be pleased to know, it’s a proper gin. Not one of these pretendy flavoured liqueurs, but a hearty 37.5% spirit. So you can use it in a fancy cocktail or simply team it with your favourite tonic.

I preferred it built over ice with an ice cold tonic. But paired with the prosecco and cherry syrup, it’s a balanced cocktail that’s not too sweet or sickly. Perfect if you like something more on the bitter side.

Avid readers will know my love for all things lemon, and so the Luxardo Limoncello cocktail was my favourite. A lovely little palette cleanser, I can just imagine being the perfect way to wash down a huge helping of Italian carbs…

Whilst, the limoncello screams summer, I think Luxardo’s Sour Cherry Gin is a little more versatile. Those spicy notes and warming cherry flavours make it an ideal autumnal drink.

Try it for yourself at the new Luxardo Cherry Garden Gin Bar at The Botanist. Only available until the 5th October!

Lots of love, LB x
