Korean food has been tipped as being one of the biggest ‘foodie trends’ of 2018 and despite loving Asian cuisine, Korean wasn’t something I’d really tried.
After seeing food stalls pop up at events and festivals, I thought I’d do some research into how I can easily recreate their famous Korean Beef recipe rice bowl dish at home.
This was my first bash at Korean, and I loved it! Sweet and spicy flavours that were so simple yet so indulgent meant I just had to share it for you lot!
This Korean Beef recipe serves two people and you’ll need the following:
- 400g of lean mince beef
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 50g brown sugar
- 4tbsp soy sauce
- 2tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp chilli flakes
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- Sprinkling of salt
- Sesame seeds and chopped spring onions to garnish
We served ours with white long grain rice, pak choi and tenderstem broccolli to create an authentic Korean rice bowl.
Are you ready for just how easy peasy this is? Let’s go…
In a skillet pan, cook the minced beef and garlic until browned. Whilst this is cooking away, mix the sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, chilli, ginger and pepper together.
I gave mine a quick blitz in my Andrew James 3 in 1 Hand Blender – my ultimate kitchen must have!
Once the beef is nicely cooked, add in the sauce, a sprinkle of salt and let it simmer for a couple of minutes.
And that’s your lot! Told you didn’t I?
Serve with rice, Asian vegetables and sprinkle with sesame seeds and crunchy spring onion for a quick and Proper Scrumptious dish!
Little tip: leave some of the sauce in the pan to pour of the rice and vegetable once it’s plated up.
Have you tried or seen any Korean recipes? Send them my way, I’m obsessed with the salty, garlic-y goodness it delivers.
Let me know if you try this little number, too!
Lots of love, LB x
