If you, like me, appreciate a ridiculously photogenic plate of food then you’ll love the brunch dishes at Kith and Kin, Whitley Bay.
You could, of course, just sit and stare at their Instagram feed to satisfy your need for pretty presentation but when it tastes just as good as it looks, you really need to pay them a visit.
I mean, that’s got to be the ultimate yolk porn, right?
This casual and simple café creates wholesome, honest food only a short walk from the beautiful shores of Whitley Bay. On a corner of Park View, you can tuck into all-day breakfast food, lunch, artisan coffees and homemade bakes.
As you’re all fully aware of my deep passion for a good brunch, that had to be the menu of choice. Lady from a Tramp and I planned a weekend mate date to finally sample the Instafamous dishes and stock up on drool-inducing snaps.
It was a tough choice, but I settled on the Avocado on Sourdough. A citrus infused avocado smash on toasted sourdough and topped with chilli flakes, picked red onions and peppered radishes (£7.50). It also came with a little pot of dukkah – a mixture of herbs, nuts and spices inspired by Egypt. I also added a poached egg to the dish for an additional £1.00.
Katie went for the Mexican Breakfast (£8.55). Slow cooked black beans, a green and red chilli salsa, avocado smash, a fried egg and a grilled tortilla. The dish was topped with minted yoghurt, fresh lime and coriander – it’s literally Dan’s ultimate breakfast.
You can add a list of extras onto any dish including thick, meaty chorizo from local butcher, Nicholsons (+£2.50). Which I massively regretted not adding on, so always do this.
As well as group and family friendly, this cosy little venue welcomes dogs too! It’s the perfect stop for refreshments after a breezy winter walk along the coast with the pooch this weekend.
It’d be lush in the summer too, with outside seating for al fresco dining – I can’t wait to head back!
Lots of love, LB x
